Summer Reading List

May 7, 2008

Hey friends,

sun’s out, music loud and summer close.

I guess I’m not saying anything new when I tell you that preparations for the Tintin movie are on their way. Steven Spielberg will direct. Peter Jackson and several others will produce it. Rumor has it that Thomas Sangster is cast for the leading role. Check out imdb or comicstofilm for the latest news.

Also I’m waiting for the new X-Files movie, I Want To Believe, out on July 24th. Hope it’s better than the first. It’s been a while without Scully and Mulder…

Hellboy 2, The Science of Evil will be out June 24th - you should take a look at the trailer (if you haven’t already)

Obviously Hellboy’s also high on my reading list. Emerald Hell by Tom Piccirilli. Dark Horse has got a nice HC out with the stories Seed of Destruction and Wake of the Devil. The printing is wonderful with the colors jumping off the black right into your face. A great book!

So what else am I reading?

Casanova by Matt Fraction and Gabriel Ba (great graphic novel!)

The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes (fantastic Victorian horror thriller with a nice dose of humor)

Storm, the collection bk. 7 by Don Lawrence and Martin Lodewijk (marvelous reprint in extra large of The Slayer of Eriban and The Hounds of Marduk) To order check out the link to the right!

My friend David Wellington’s latest: 99 Coffins, a Historical Vampire Tale. A great book and a terrific follow up to last year’s 13 Bullets. For news on David, check out the link to the right.

Robert B. Parker’s Now and Then. I LOOOOVE Spenser and Hawk. Top Notch this one!!!

Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood: Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons. Hey, it’s Wood, so what do I need to say?!

Les Aigles de Rome by Marini. A terrific take on the youth of Herman the Cheruscan.

The Gates of Rome by Conn Iggulden. Caesar as a youth. Adventure with a lot of imagination. Terrific read!

Joseph Wambaugh: Hollywood Crows. Latest by the crime writers’ darling. Marvelous!

On my pile: Daredevil, Alix, Corto Maltese, Will Eisner’s The Spirit, Jeremiah (Belgian comic book series)

Well, that’s been it for now. Hope you enjoy the week in your life, the new Chapter and if you want we’ll meet again next week.

All best,

André
